What to do in 2011
This is a work in progress just putting out some ideas. If you have any idea's please email them to me.
1/16/2011 Avalon 50 miler.
Avalon was the first 50miler I ever ran back in 2008. The course is mostly on fire trails and explores the entire island of Catalina with a good chance of spotting wild Buffalo's. My family especially my nephew's really enjoy the Island and it would be a fun weekend. Although the course has almost no flat sections the whole thing is runnable with no climbs over 1 mile. It's the only trail 50 miler in which I didn't walk a single step. The last thing I realy like about this race is since takes place on an Island most of the runners spend the night and it's pretty fun seeing everyone hobble to breakfast the next morning.

02/06/2011 Redondo Beach Superbowl 5k/10k
5k starting line
I've done this event for the last three or four years. Last year I decided to create my own race entering both the 5k and the 10k. After each race your are entitled to 2 Asahi beer's at the Seaside Lagoon about a 1/4 mile from the finish. I decided would create my own event where I would not stop the clock until my beers were finished then I would restart the clock for the second race and add the 2 times together including the 4 beers. It was also my first time racing in the Vibrams. I finished the 5k respectably in 16 something sprinted through the finish line, got to my beers and downed them in under 19 mins total. I'd never ran 2 races on the same day, about 30 min. later it was time to start the 10k my calves were extremely tight. I took me 4miles before I could find a comfortable rhythm. I finished way back from where I wanted in 37mins and 42nd place. This time the finishline was crowed. The path to the beer felt like the Venice beach boardwalk, I bobbed and weaved through the crowd like I was returning the opening kick off for touchdown. Most of the 5k crowd were still drinking there two beers and many of them knew what I was doing. While the other 10k finishers were gathering their breathe and congratulating each other I was the first one to the beer (nobody else is that stupid) The crowd watched in awe as they witnessed history in the making. It was pretty cool getting cheered as I pounded my 2 beers in under 30seconds, Finishing in just over 58 minutes total for the two races plus 4 beers and the extra .5 mile to get to the beer. Because of my effort I was awarded a bonus beer which quickly was consumed. The bar has been set and if anyone is up for the challenge next year please let me know. I would be up for raising the ante by bringing 8 extra beers of are own and finish a six pack after each race, then we can really see what were made of (that is meant figuratively but could end up being literal)

02/13/11 San Diequito Half Marathon
When I ran the America's finest 1/2 marathon last year, a few told me that this is the primer 1/2 marathon in souther CA. The entry fee is cheap, the winning times are attainable (1:09-1:13) and best of all

02/19/11 Orange Curtain 100k/50k
2008
The Orange Cutrain Ultra is designed for a PR. The course is a 5k down a riverbed bicycle path and back either 5 or 10 times. In 2008 I got my first win as an Ultra runner in the 100k and in 2010 I ran my first Ultra here in Vibram Five Fingers.
My cousin putting at liberty
The course also starts at Liberty park a place where I have played disc golf for years.
03/06/11 Copper Canyons Ultra
Barfoot Ted's montage from the first CCUM the one written about in "Born to Run"
The only race as of today I am actually signed for. I am more excited about this event than any other race I have ever participated in. Luna Sandals was kind enough to sponsor me and I will not disappoint. The field is limited to around 60 international runners and will have at least 250 Mexican's including numerous Tarahumara runners. Last year only one international runner cracked the top ten and the winner was a mexican guy wearing modern running shoes. I Can't wait to be running along side Rarámuri! I The top runners are paid out in corn and beans and it would be an honor worth training my ass for to be able to win and donate my bounty to these beautiful people
03/20/11 - L.A. Marathon
My first marathon
L.A was the first marathon I ever ran. It was in poring rain and It brought to tears seeing thousands of my fellow Los Angeleno's line the streets to cheer us on. It still gives me goosebumps thinking about it. Anyhow I've ran the race a few times under different configurations and would love to run the current course which looks like agreat place for me to PR. My sister is planning to run this race as her first marathon and although I can't stand the owner of the race Frank McCourt (owner of the dodgers) If I am in town I will run the race as well.
04/?/11 Bare Burro 5k
This a nudist 5k held at Olive Dell ranch in southern CA. I worked at this resort as a massage therapist way back in 1998 as a massage therapist during National nude weekend. My naked running experience is very limited. They won't let me do it at the gym for some reason, and I don't really want to go some pedophile list if I accidently run passed a school out doors. I've streaked around the block on a bet before and done a little running on treadmill but I don't currently own one. I truly believe that our bodies are designed to run. (obviously that's part of the reason I'm a barefoot runner) If our bodies are designed to run that means they are meant to function without athletic support.
05/14/11 - Palos Verdes Marathon
Finishline 2010
One of my Favorite Marathons. It will be great fun to run as the defending champ. Palos Verdes is 2nd longest running marathon in United States behind only Boston. The race is inexpensive and starts about 15 miles from my current residence. The course has a lot of hills and where I currently have my PR 2:37.
Bare 2 Breakers 5/15/11
It's the 100th year Bay to breakers race. Bare to breakers is group of people that run the race naked. Could make for really interesting experience. Not looking to realistic for me as the Palos Verdes Marathon is more of a priority.http://www.hermosa24.com/
Hermosa 24 6/18-19/11
Last year Christian Burke ran for 24 hours straight on the soft sand of the beach between the Manhattan Beach and Hermosa beach piers in a effort to raise money for kids school. This year it will be a individual as well as relay race to see who can run the most miles and raise the most money for the school's.
San Diego 100mile Endurance run 06/?/11
The San Diego 100 mile Endurance race has quickly become the premiere 100 miler in southern California. Great course great volunteers and a great race director. In 2008 it was must first 100 mile race and finished in 4th place. Last year I entered the race with my body at about 60% it wasn't really a smart decision but I had already paid my entry fee so I gave it a go, and I was forced to drop out early before injury would occur. I want some revenge.
Unofficial Badwater 07/01/11
The last 2 years I have ran paced at Badwater for Dan Westergaard (He ran course 6 times in a row this year the only man ever to do so). I love everything about the race but the exorbitant cost of participation. I don't wear belt buckles and I feel like just cruising through the course hopefully I get one other runner to do it with me. My goal would be sub 40 hours but a sub 30 would be real nice. Luna Sandals are the perfect shoe for the desert. Last year I paced a bit in Vibrams with injinjis, the heat from the ground became too intense and my feet were very sweaty on the verge of blistering. I had just received my Luna Sandals a few weeks prior and brought them as a novelty to try in the desert. I put the Luna's on my feet and they didn't come off until the race was over. I ended pacing over 40 miles in them and my feet felt great.
Pro Disc Golf World Championships 08/7-13/11
The PDGA world championships is coming to Santa Cruz. Since I started golfing in 1997 the closest to the West Coast world's has been was Flagstaff (which I played in). I love the golfing at De Laveaga (Santa Cruz course on of the best in the world) I did not play enough tournaments in 2010 to qualify and would have to get in on a sponsorship exemption. It's a long shot for this to happen but it would be fun to get serious about the sport once again.
Mt Dissapointment 50miler/50km 08/?/11
Great course and a great race director. I am the defending champ, how could I resist?
